Flamengo has a new youth coach. Mauro Macedo, who previously coached Botafogo and Fluminense, arrives at the club to lead the U-14 and U-15 teams, continuing the excellent restructuring work that aims to develop young talent for the sport with the potential to one day join the Mais Querido's main squad.

Off the court, Mauro holds a postgraduate degree in Physical Education, specializing in psychomotor skills in sports. In addition to leading the Rubro-Negro U-14 and U-15 teams, he is also the current coach of the Brazilian Unified Basketball Team (Wheelchair Team).

"I was very happy with Flamengo's invitation. I believe that for professional growth, it's necessary to seek a better work structure, and today, the club is a national reference. I started my career at Fluminense as an intern and remained there for seven years. In 2017, I went to Botafogo, where I stayed for two years, winning the U-15 championship last year. Now, I'm arriving at Mais Querido thinking about renewing the U-14 and U-15 categories and very excited to start working. I want to convey to my athletes that playing for Flamengo is something special; you have to give something extra on the court," declared the new Flamengo coach.

Maurinho, as he is known, has already begun work to prepare the team for the U-15 State Championship, scheduled for March. One of the coach's first challenges at Flamengo will be deciding which players will remain with the club, as the club has a large number of young players on its roster.

The Anjo da Guarda Rubro-Negro Project, a personal tax transfer, benefits all Olympic sports of the Most Beloved.
