After facing several complications arising from chronic kidney and heart problems, Ary Vidal died this Monday (January 28.01th) at his home in Rio de Janeiro. The cause of death has not yet been released. The burial will take place this Tuesday at the Caju cemetery, at 11 am. A passionate Flamengo fan, Ary made his mark on the century-old history of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo.

His work also left its mark on national and international sports. In addition to coaching, he also served as the basketball director for Mais Querido, winning two national championships in 2009.

That same year, Flamengo paid tribute to the professional during halftime of the match between Flamengo and Saldanha da Gama. "I didn't expect this to happen. I was thrilled," said the Flamengo fan, shortly after receiving a plaque in his honor, signed by the club's then-president, Marcio Braga. In addition to winning titles with Flamengo, Ary coached the Brazilian team that won the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis, a historic achievement for Brazilian basketball.
