In Argentina, FlaBasquete seeks to consolidate its qualification for the Champions League

FlaBasquete landed on Argentine soil in the early hours of Saturday for the third and final window of the Champions League qualifying phase. At the Instituto Córdoba headquarters, the Pride of the Nation faces the home team on Monday (6) and Peñarol (URU) on Tuesday (7), and needs just one victory to consolidate its classification for the quarterfinals and practically guarantee first place in Group C. The clashes will be broadcast by ESPN at 20 pm.

The red-and-black squad embarked on a series of away games. After the Super 8 final in Franca, FlaBasquete's last matches were in the NBB, against Fortaleza and Unifacisa, away from home.

"We have to turn things around a bit now. These will be two tough games, but we're on the right track and want to solidify our top spot. We're going to try to play two great games so we don't have to rely on points," commented center Hettsheimeir.

With three wins in four matches, Flamengo leads the group, followed by the Uruguayan team (two wins and two losses) and the Argentine team (one win and three losses), which needs a 100% record in the window to dream of qualifying.

Understand the situation of Group C:

Flamengo will advance to the quarterfinals with one more win, or if Peñarol beats Instituto (on Wednesday the 8th). Peñarol will qualify if Flamengo beats Instituto, or if they win both games. Instituto needs two wins, and FlaBasquete needs to beat Peñarol. If the Uruguayan team beats Mais Querido and loses to the Argentine team, there will be a three-way tie, and the decision will be based on points difference. Currently, Flamengo has a plus-120, while Peñarol has a -66, and Instituto Córdoba has a -54.

The two teams that secure qualification will face the top two teams in Group D (1st C vs. 2nd D / 2nd C vs. 1st D), Franca and UdeC (CHI), respectively. The stage will be played in a best-of-three format, with home court advantage going to the higher-placed team, in early March.
