Pride of the Nation starts well in the fight for the second continental championship
By Communication - Official club website - inIt was a tough game, but in the end Flamengo prevailed. In a tight match, the Pride of the Nation defeated Gimnasia Indalo (ARG) in their Basketball League of the Americas debut, 66-58. Marquinhos, with 15 points, was the red-and-black's top scorer in the game. Meyinisse and Marcelinho each scored 10 points.
The first two quarters of the game were completely dominated by Mais Querido, who opened up a 10-point lead (26 to 16). However, the Argentines, led by former red-and-black coach Gonzalo Garcia, reacted in the third quarter and opened up a seven-point lead on the scoreboard.
It was then that coach José Neto adjusted the team's defensive positioning. The guidance paid off, and Mengão turned the game around in the final quarter with just a few minutes remaining. Strong in defense and more efficient in shooting, the team opened up a lead and secured a winning debut.
Flamengo now faces Aguilas de Tunja (COL) in the second round of the competition, which is currently being held in Panama. The match will be broadcast on Sportv 3 and kicks off at 21:15 p.m. Brasília time.
