The recipe for a perfect night is inviting your friends over, throwing a party, and everyone leaving happy and wanting more. Today, Arena Carioca saw exactly that, with no chance for anything out of place. In Anderson Varejão's debut, FlaBasquete defeated Campo Mourão 92-69, notching its ninth straight win in NBB 10, further cementing its lead in the competition with 14 wins in 16 games and an 87,5% success rate, and maintaining its unbeaten home record, the only team to do so this season. Now, the team plays again on Saturday at 14 p.m., also at Arena Carioca, against Paulistano.
Anderson Varejão was on the court for 17 minutes. While he didn't score many points (just four), he grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists. He still felt a bit out of sync with the team, but he delivered a beautiful play at the end of the fourth quarter, receiving an assist from Marcelinho behind his back and scoring his first basket wearing the Sacred Mantle.
The power forward took the court for the first time six minutes into the first quarter and set the house on fire. The game was evenly matched from the opening moments, with the opponents demonstrating they wouldn't be intimidated by the more than four thousand Flamengo fans in attendance at the Arena. Campo Mourao was leading 10-06 when Neto sent Marcelinho, Rhett, and Varejão into the game. The situation changed radically. The three combined, Marcelinho scored seven points, Rhett grabbed four rebounds, and Varejão got his first two points after a beautiful assist from the Captain, late in the quarter. Flamengo took the lead, 28-12.

The second quarter was a one-sided affair. With Rhett and Marquinhos on fire, the team increased their lead as time went on, demonstrating the pace of the match until the end. The two scored eight points each, dominating the space and counting on JP Batista's three rebounds and Varejão's four, to finish with a 20-point margin, 48-28.
The second half saw a more measured play. Marquinhos and Ramon were the key players in a period where Flamengo distributed the game and the points more. The defensive system was essential in holding off Campo Mourão. Seven rebounds, five of them in the paint, hampered the rival attack, allowing for a final score of 71-48.
In the final quarter, with the match practically decided, Flamengo tried to maintain its lead, and Neto made changes to the lineup, giving point guard Mogi his debut. The lead remained at around 20 points until the end, sealing another victory for Flamengo this season.
