Flamengo was defeated by Rio Claro 93-87 in overtime, late afternoon this Monday (16), in the interior of São Paulo, in a match valid for the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). Rubro-Negro came from a victory over São José and sought to maintain the good sequence in the competition.

The match started evenly, but the home team prevailed in the first set, winning 26-21. With good offensive efficiency, Rio Claro went into halftime ahead on the scoreboard: 51-45. Upon returning from the locker room, Flamengo raised their defensive level and began to better control the game. With intensity and efficiency on offense, the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved) turned the game around and entered the final seconds leading by three points. However, with two seconds remaining, Rio Claro converted a shot from mid-court as the clock expired, sending the game into overtime. In overtime, the São Paulo team capitalized on their last-minute tie and closed out the game 93-87.

The Pride of the Nation returns to the court next Thursday (19), at 19 pm, at Maracanãzinho, to face Franca, for the NBB. On Saturday, the challenge will be against Bauru, also at home.

The match remained intense in the second quarter. The home team managed to reduce the deficit at times, but Rio Claro maintained good shooting accuracy and controlled the pace of the game. In a high-volume offensive game, the teams went into halftime with the São Paulo team leading 51-45.

Upon returning from the locker room, Flamengo displayed a different attitude. More aggressive, the Rubro-Negro began to control the game more. The third quarter ended in a tie, with the game still open for the final 10 minutes.

The final quarter was marked by tension in the final seconds. Flamengo improved their performance, turned the game around, and even managed to open up a small lead in the final stretch.
