São José came close, but the red-and-black team's determination prevailed. Flamengo prevailed and defeated the São Paulo champions 83-75. With the victory, José Neto's team once again extended its record for the most wins in a single NBB season despite absences such as center Shilton.  who was injured on Sunday.

"Watching the game from the stands is the worst feeling for an athlete, because we are used to that atmosphere of the game, making mistakes and fixing them, shouting, cheering and doing something concrete on the court and being on the sidelines like that makes the anxiety absurdly greater," lamented Shilton.

The red-and-black team ended the first quarter with an 18-17 lead, wasting many chances. The following quarters brought challenges, but with the strength and enthusiasm of the fans, the team overcame them and secured their eleventh victory of the tournament. In the end, the result was worth it.

"We reduced the advantage of some players who were excelling in the match. And all in a very collective way. Even in games where we're not playing so well, the strength of the group can overcome these difficulties, such as the absence of Marcelinho, and now that of Shilton, who are important players for our squad," said José Neto.

Flamengo returns to action in the NBB against Suzano on Thursday at 20 p.m. The game will be in Suzano.
