NBB will resume in the playoffs and Flamengo is in the quarterfinals
The decision was taken by the National Basketball League in a meeting with club representatives
By Helena Petry - inAfter a meeting with club representatives, the National Basketball League announced the end of the NBB qualifying phase. With this, the competition will resume in the playoffs, a date yet to be set. First-place overall, Mengão, has already qualified for the quarterfinals and will face the winner of the Botafogo vs. Rio Claro match.
With 21 wins in 24 games and an 87,5% success rate, the Mais Querido (Most Beloved) team sits first in the standings with 45 points. They're level on points with second-place Franca, but with one more game and one fewer win. The Rubro-Negro's last match in the competition was against São José at the Linneu de Moura gymnasium on March 5th. In overtime, FlaBasquete won the match 102-97.
Of the 16 participating teams, 12 remain in contention for the title. In addition to Flamengo, Franca, São Paulo, Minas TC, Mogi das Cruzes, Pinheiros, Corinthians, Botafogo, Rio Claro, Unifacisa, Paulistano, and Bauru Basket are also advancing in the competition.
The basketball teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo receive funding from their sponsors – BRB, TIM, AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, and EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR) and the State Incentive Law/Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat of Sports, Recreation, and Youth (Seelje), in addition to support from the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC) resulting from the decentralization of resources generated by the Pelé Law. The Anjo da Guarda Rubro-Negro Project, a personal tax transfer, benefits all Olympic sports of the Most Beloved.
