Neto: "Playoffs are a championship apart"
Coach analyzes Mogi das Cruzes, Flamengo's opponent in the NBB semifinals
By Communication - Official Club Website - inNext Monday (May 12.05th), at 19 pm, Flamengo begins another challenge as they seek their third title in the New Basketball Brazil (NBB). Against Mogi das Cruzes, the red-and-black team begins the best-of-five series valid for the NBB semifinals, on the court of Tijuca Tênis Clube. The opposing team was the last to qualify for the playoffs, in 12th place, but improved in the competition in the round of 5, beating Pinheiros (4th), and in the quarterfinals, when they came from behind and turned the series against Limeira (3th) around to 2-XNUMX. Coach José Neto sees Mogi's evolution and highlights the team's greatest strengths.
"It's increasingly clear that the playoffs are a league in their own right. What happened in the qualifying round only served to gain the advantage of being able to decide a theoretical fifth and decisive home game, nothing more. Mogi is proof that the quality of teams isn't measured solely by their qualifying position. They finished 12th and knocked Pinheiros and Limeira out of the championship. They have a team that plays very well collectively, with great intensity and using physicality as one of their main strengths," analyzed the coach.
Collective play is also one of Flamengo's strengths. Composed of great individual talents, both in the starting lineup and on the bench, which boasts excellent performance, the team isn't dependent on one player or another. Neto is banking on this aspect to reach the final. "We always prioritize the team and collective play in our work. I don't believe in any other way to succeed in basketball other than this. We work to make this happen in practice, and to achieve this, we rely on a team of conscious players who strive to execute this vision. We will always pursue victory," he assured.
