The Basketball World Cup victory may have happened this Sunday, but it started a long time ago. Just like director Marcelo Vido recalled the beginning of the work in January, coach José Neto recalled that to defeat Maccabi Tel Aviv, Flamengo had previously won an NBB title and an undefeated League of the Americas.

We have to think about how we got here. Nobody gave us anything. It was all about achievement: first, a national title that gave us the right to compete in the Liga América, which we won undefeated. And then we came to play here. 

We remember why we got here, how we got here, and that's why everyone was motivated. To not let this title slip away.

This is a great joy: to be able to reward the support that the fans, the club, and basketball have given us. And to have the responsibility of representing Brazilian basketball in a competition like this... It's not every day that we get an opportunity like this.
