After experiencing muscle pain, Nico returned to training with the ball on Tuesday morning (April 17.04). The player, introduced in August 2013 as Flamengo's new point guard, demonstrated great skill on the court throughout the season, in addition to being the team's top scorer in a number of matches. In the final match of the 2014 Liga das Américas, against Pinheiros, in March, the Argentine felt pain in the adductor muscle of his thigh. Nico played a quarter of the following match, against São José, in the NBB, but has not played since.

"The pain is getting much better. In my last game, against São José, I wasn't feeling well, but now I'm much better. Today I did some ball movements and everything went well. I've been doing physical therapy every day, working in the pool, and I feel good enough to go on the court. My recovery isn't complete yet, but I'm already more confident and eager to get back to training with my teammates. I want to get back to playing and being part of the team," said the athlete.

The basketball team's physiotherapist, Ricardo Machado, explained how the player's recovery is progressing and announced that Nico will now gradually return to full training with the squad.

"Today was Nico's first time on the court. The medical department has been very careful, and we've been following a very calm prognosis. We used a lot of painkillers and electrotherapy for a while, and we started doing manual therapy. And this morning (Wednesday, the 16th), we took him to the court. We did about 45 minutes of training, and he developed all his movements very well, and he felt good, which is important. After this test, we'll be able to progress his recovery. We don't yet have a set date for him to return to the court with the group for a full training session, but we expect him to gradually return. He had an MRI and no fiber injury was detected, just edema, which isn't considered a muscle injury but causes discomfort," explained the team's physiotherapist, Ricardo Machado.

If after winning the Liga das Américas with Flamengo, Nico stamped his passport for the Club World Cup, with Argentina, the player hopes to compete in the World Cup for national teams, in Spain, which begins in August this year.

"It depends on the coach's call-up, but I can say I'm working hard to get there. Every day I come to Flamengo to grow and fight for a chance in the Argentine national team. It's something I have in mind, but I know I have to work hard. Meeting Brazil would be wonderful, I have many friends in Brazil, it would be a great game," he said.

The point guard says he has many basketball idols, but admits that the player he admires most is another Argentine, Manu Ginóbili, shooting guard for the four-time NBA champion San Antonio Spurs.

"I have many idols, I enjoy watching many players. Steve Nash is one I like. Nash sounds good to me, so I named my dog after him. But I have many other idols in Argentina as well. I think the biggest idol for most Argentines is Ginóbili. His style of play, his talent, his intelligence, and his desire to win are things everyone would like to have. Even though he's not in my position, he inspires me as a person, with his attitude," he said.
