Our God of Race had a day to never forget! Olivinha was immortalized on the morning of this Friday (15), Flamengo's 129th anniversary, with the inauguration of his bust at the Sacred Grounds of Gávea. The eternal number 16 of FlaBasquete becomes the club's first Olympic athlete to receive this honor.
Two-time world champion with Flamengo, the greatest champion in the history of the NBB and holder of a series of records in national basketball, Olivinha was very moved by the tribute.
"I'm feeling incredibly emotional; I've never felt this way in my life. I never thought I'd receive a bust, a tribute like this. I'm so happy! For me, it's the greatest honor of my life. I'm so grateful for everything—Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, I love you! I'll carry you in my heart forever. Thank you for everything you've given me and for the fantastic tribute you've given me," concluded the God of Race.
Olivinha joins historic club idols such as Zico and Buck (statues), Carlinhos, Raul Plassmann, Leandro, Marinho, Mozer, Andrade, Adílio, Nunes and Lico (busts) as those honored with monuments in the rich and victorious history of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo.
