At Maracanãzinho, FlaBasquete loses to Corinthians by 83 to 70, in the NBB

The red-black team performed well below expectations and ended up suffering its first defeat in the competition.

In its home debut for the NBB 2024-25, FlaBasquete faced the interstate classic against Corinthians and ended up being defeated 83-70, this Thursday (24), at Maracanãzinho. With that, the Pride of the Nation suffered its first defeat in the competition, having a performance well below expectations. Now, Gustavo De Conti's team returns to the court on Saturday (26) to face Pinheiros and seek recovery.

1st Bedroom
The first points for Corinthians came from Shaq Johnson, who grabbed the rebound in the paint. Lucas Siewert went for two free throws and converted both. Corinthians, in turn, kept the match even by capitalizing on their attacking opportunities. Shaq Johnson received the ball at the three-point line and hit a three-pointer, making it 18-13 with just over four minutes remaining in the quarter. Kayo Gonçalves scored three points from the dead zone on the court. The match remained even until the end of the period, with Corinthians leading 26-25.

2st Bedroom
In his return to the Manto, Ruan immediately showed his calling card and went for the dunk. In the opening minutes, Corinthians continued to capitalize on their attacking opportunities and maintained their lead. In a good play by the red-and-black team, Alexey penetrated the paint and shot. Ruan grabbed the rebound and made two more on the layup. Gui Deodato went for two free throws, both of which went in. The match remained very even until the final seconds of the quarter. Corinthians maintained their lead and went into halftime with a two-point lead: 45-43.  

3st Bedroom
Early in the third quarter, Gallizzi scored four consecutive points. The highlight was his first, a beautiful dunk. Lucas Siewert received an open ball and scored a three-pointer. Corinthians, on the other hand, maintained their consistency and continued to perform well on offense, preventing the red-and-blacks from coming back. In the final seconds, Alexey sped down the field and scored two points on a layup. The São Paulo team maintained their lead and closed the quarter at 63-56.

4st Bedroom
In the fourth quarter, Franco Balbi entered the game, made a good individual play, and scored two points for Flamengo. The Argentine showed he was truly in tune. He made another beautiful play, scored two points, and was even fouled, converting the bonus free throw. Despite their efforts, Flamengo couldn't replicate their performance in previous matches and ended up suffering their first loss in the NBB: 83-70.

Next challenge
The Pride of the Nation returns to the court on Saturday (26) to face Pinheiros, at 11 am, again at Maracanãzinho, for the fifth round of the NBB.
