By Romulo Paranhos - inFlamengo entered the court on Monday night (03), at Maracanãzinho, and beat Basquete Cearense 78 to 71 in NBB 12. The red-black top scorer in the match was Jhonatan Luz with 23 points scored.
The game
The match started evenly, with both teams seeking possession. With two three-pointers from Franco Balbi and Marquinhos, Flamengo opened up a five-point lead. Zach Graham also had his finger on the pulse, converting another three points for Mengão. Eloy Vargas came off the bench and played very well, scoring points for Flamengo. Flamengo finished the period leading 24-17.
In the second quarter, FlaBasquete returned with the same intensity and didn't slow down. Jhonatan Luz hit an early three-pointer to further extend the red-and-black lead. "Mais Querido" (The Most Beloved) continued to lead, finishing the quarter 39-30.
When the teams returned for the third quarter, Marquinhos scored four more points for Mengão. Jhonatan Luz continued his excellent performance, scoring important points to keep the Red-Blacks ahead. The Red-Blacks' defense was solid and gave Basquete Cearense little space to create attacking plays. The period ended with Flamengo extending its lead even further: 61-43.
In the final quarter, FlaBasquete managed their advantage well, calmly moving the ball around and waiting for the right moment to set up plays. Leo Demetrio and Franco Balbi also excelled in the game with nine rebounds and eight assists, respectively. Late in the quarter, Basquete Cearense attempted a comeback, reducing the deficit to six points. But Mengão held on and closed the match 78-71.

FlaBasquete returns to the court next Wednesday (05) against Pato Branco. The match will be held at 20 pm at the Sesi Pato Branco gym, in Paraná.
