With emotion. Every Flamengo fan knows how decisive games are for Flamengo, and this Sunday (28.09) was no different. In front of a packed Arena, the Pride of the Nation honored the nickname given by the fans and beat the European champion, Maccabi Tel Aviv, 90 to 77. After being defeated in the first game by 69 to 66, Flamengo reacted in the second match, driven by the screams of every passionate red-black fan in the stands and on social media, who was the Sixth Player in the historic and unprecedented conquest of the World Cup.

"There's no explanation for being world champions. You can put that star on your chest, we're world champions," said Gegê, who sang on the court: "Above all, red-and-black." The match also featured Argentine Nicolas Laprovittola as the red-and-black's top scorer: 24 points. He was also the game's MVP (Most Valuable Player). 

Maccabi started the match with a seven-point lead, but the fans soon became excited, and Flamengo responded on the court: with two consecutive three-pointers from Marquinhos and two consecutive baskets from Meyinsse—including a beautiful dunk—the Red-Black team took the lead to 11-7. And the Nation sang louder and louder in the Arena. The game continued well for the Pride of the Nation. After Nico stole the ball, Herrmann found Marquinhos open for the dunk.

Laprovittola then hit another three-pointer to put Flamengo ahead 19-16. Maccabi chased back and came back to make it 25-22, but Flamengo made another three-pointer with Herrmann as the clock expired, signaling the end of the first quarter: 27-25. Maccabi took the lead early in the second period, but Benite hit a three-pointer to give Flamengo a 34-32 lead. With points from Marcelinho and Olivinha, Flamengo opened up a nine-point lead: 41-32. With free throws made by Nico and Olivinha, Flamengo closed the first half with a ten-point lead: 46-36.

In the third quarter, Meyinsse stood out with his dunks for Flamengo, and Jeremy Pargo scored three-pointers for Maccabi, who closed the gap: 56-55. The game was heated and tightly contested. At the end of the period, the scoreboard showed Flamengo ahead by three points, 64-61, but Maccabi won the quarter 25-18. In the final quarter, the game remained evenly matched until Nico shone on the court. With a three-pointer and a layup from the Argentine, the Red-and-Blacks took a 13-point lead with five minutes remaining. Maccabi scored a three-pointer, but Herrmann counterattacked in kind for Flamengo. In the final minutes, the Red-and-Blacks remained calm. The team behaved like champions and held on to the lead, which increased to 13 points: 90-77 for Flamengo, the world champions.
