Clube de Regatas do Flamengo publicly condemns and deplores the acts of violence committed by members of the Flamengo fan club's organized fan groups on Monday night at the Tijuca Tênis Clube gymnasium during a State Basketball Championship match against Vasco. These acts led to the interruption of the game and created a threatening and tense atmosphere in the gymnasium that belies the level that Flamengo basketball has achieved in recent years, when it has won every possible title, from state to world championship.

It's worth noting that Flamengo's true fans were our sixth player in all these achievements. The "Pride of the Nation" continues to count on them. However, thoughtless actions like these, committed by a minority of reckless vandals, harm the clubs and are crucial in driving more and more families and loyal fans away from Brazilian gymnasiums and stadiums.

The Flamengo Regatta Club also regrets that, just as the state basketball tournament is regaining its momentum, the five gymnasiums used in the Olympics are still closed to the Rio sports community. Furthermore, the Flamengo Regatta Club continues to await official approval from authorities for the construction of its own gymnasium, which will be built without the use of public funds.

Clube de Regatas do Flamengo understands that these unfortunate incidents go beyond the sporting sphere and are a matter of public safety. If those directly responsible for such acts were punished in an exemplary manner, the issue of violence in sports would be resolved.
