Flamengo confirms the arrival of center Wesley Castro, who will wear the Sacred Mantle in the 2025/26 season. The 29-year-old athlete arrives after a remarkable stint with Franca, where he excelled in the NBB and international tournaments.

A native of Belo Horizonte, Wesley began his career in 2013 with Pinheiros and gained experience at clubs such as Minas, Corinthians, and Mogi das Cruzes before landing at Franca. At the São Paulo club, he was a key player in their fourth NBB championship, averaging 10,1 points and 4,3 rebounds.

In addition, he won the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in 2023 and shone in Franca's last two seasons — including his return after a brief stint in Mexico — achieving a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds in his return.

With an imposing physical presence (2,02 m), good efficiency in the paint and solid defense, the pivot represents an important addition to Flamengo's rotation, adding strength and experience in decisive games.

The new Flamengo signing spoke about the opportunity to represent the club. "It's a great pleasure to be part of this team for the 25/26 season. I'm very happy to be able to wear the Flamengo jersey, a club with a long tradition in the sport, and I hope to be able to add to the immense history that this club carries wherever it goes," said Wesley.

Wesley Castro joins Alexey Borges, Gui Deodato, Jhonatan Luz, Shaq Johnson, Kayo Gonçalves and Ruan Miranda as the names confirmed for the next season of red-black basketball.
