Kayo Gonçalves is FlaBasquete's newest addition. Having enjoyed a successful stint with the Mais Querido youth academy, the power forward arrives to bolster the Flamengo's defense after Olivinha's shoulder injury in the NBB match against Botafogo in early November. Kayo is 24 years old, 2,03'XNUMX" tall, and stands out for his perimeter shooting and defensive prowess.

The young red-black signed a 3-month contract and was very happy to return to “his home”.

"It's a great feeling to be able to return to the club that nurtured me and where I played much of my youth career. I'm very grateful for the coaching staff's trust in bringing me back. When I was in the youth academy, I looked up to and was greatly inspired by the players who played for Flamengo's senior team at the time. I'm very happy to be able to share the court with them now. I'm very grateful to be defending the Sacred Mantle again. Once a Flamengo player, always a Flamengo player," commented FlaBasquete's new signing.

In recent years, the power forward has played in North American and European college basketball.

"Kayo is a Gávea native and has excelled in the Flamengo youth academy. When we lost a vital player like Olivinha to injury, we found a replacement. He's a player who can excel, has an excellent shot, and is in excellent physical condition. He'll have the opportunity to become a key player in the FlaBasquete squad this season," added Guilherme Kroll, Flamengo's vice president of Olympic Sports.

Kayo is regularized and has been selected for the match later today, at 19 pm, at Maracanãzinho, against Bauru.
