One of FlaBasquete's standout players in the spectacular 2020/21 campaign, the star player renewed his contract with the Most Beloved and will continue wearing the Mantle in the most important season in recent years. In 2022, Flamengo will once again compete in the sport's world championship, the Intercontinental Cup. Other challenges include the Champions League Americas, the NBB, the Super 8 Cup, and the State Championship.
A Flamengo fan at heart, the club's captain melted when talking about his contract renewal, his 13th. He begins his 14th year defending the club in August.
"It is with great joy, passion, and pleasure that I announce my renewal. I'm happy to be alongside the nation once again, able to represent our Sacred Mantle in the best possible way. You can be sure that I will give my life for Mengão," the power forward assured.
Olivinha has amassed a trove of titles for the Pride of the Nation: he has won six NBB titles, one Liga das Américas title, one Champions League Americas title, two Super 8 Cups, and one Club World Cup, as well as ten state titles. The leading rebounder in the history of Novo Basquete Brasil and the first to reach the 3-rebound mark, the number 16 has also achieved numerous personal titles, including the MVP of the competition's finals twice, in 2016 and 2019. Olivinha is also the most efficient player in the championship's history, with the most 2-point field goals and the fourth-highest scorer in the competition. Last season, the star averaged 4 points, 12 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.4 efficiency.
