He's staying too! Center Rafael Mineiro is another Brazilian champion to renew his contract with FlaBasquete for next season. In his second stint with the club, Mineiro begins his third consecutive year at Gávea. The athlete previously defended the Manto Sagrado between 2015 and 2017, when he helped the Rubro-Negro win the NBB 8. Returning to the Mais Querido, he won another trophy in the competition, as well as two state titles and the Copa Super 8.

"I'm very happy to have renewed my contract with Flamengo once again. It's always a great joy to represent the nation, to wear this shirt that has so much history," celebrated the center.

The team's first match of the season will be the Champions League final. FlaBasquete qualified for the final undefeated, with eight wins in eight games. The series of matches, which was scheduled to begin in April, was postponed until the second half of the year due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

"I had that feeling of wanting to play and everything. Unfortunately, it didn't happen, but it will happen, so I'm very happy and ready for us to bring this title to Mengão," said the red-and-black.

Rafael Mineiro has been captivated by the Brazilian national team for several years. In 2015, he won the gold medal at the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada. That same year, in a match against Mexico in the Copa América, he performed a play that made history and earned him the 2020 FIBA "Slam Dunk of the Decade" award for the Americas. In February, the 2,09'XNUMX" center represented the country in two AmeriCup qualifiers against Uruguay, helping Brazil win both matches.

In addition to Mineiro, Olivinha, Marquinhos, Franco Balbi, and Jhonatan Luz also renewed their contracts with FlaBasquete. Argentine Chuzito González is the first addition to the squad, while Pedro Nunes, with a two-year contract, begins his second year with the club. The team remains under the command of Gustavo De Conti.
