A national idol, Marquinhos will continue to wear the Sacred Mantle for the ninth consecutive season. The winger renewed his contract for another year and will remain one of the main highlights of the team led by Gustavo De Conti. Since 2012 at Gávea, the player has won five NBB titles, one Liga das Américas, the Club World Cup, the Super 8 Cup, and seven State Championships. He has also participated in all friendlies against NBA franchises.

In 19/20, the athlete was essential in the campaign that took Mais Querido to the Champions League final, scheduled for the second half of the year, and also played a decisive role in the great performance in the NBB 12 classification phase.

"I'm very happy to have my contract renewed during a pandemic. It's amazing to be heading into my ninth season; it's like a film of everything I've experienced. The fact that Flamengo continues to believe in my basketball and my importance to the club is something that leaves me speechless. I'm excited and motivated to play in the Champions League final, which was our biggest goal last year. I hope it's an incredible season," celebrated the number 11.

The team's statistical leader (with averages of 17.3 points and 16.5 efficiency in the national competition), the MVP spoke about his relationship with the red-black fans, declared himself and outlined his goals.

"We have several challenges ahead of us, and I really want to compete in the World Cup again. It's an immense honor to be able to represent the nation in the pursuit of new achievements. Our relationship is a mutual one of love. I have a great affection for each other, and the fans identify with me for what I leave on the court. Even on bad days, I'm always committed to Flamengo. This Mantle demands a lot of fighting," he added.

Despite having won everything, he still wants to achieve more. Focused on working hard to reach the top, the winger reiterated his desire to continue making history and stay with Flamengo forever.

"My main motivation is being at a club that's always fighting for titles. I'm a competitive guy, and I think that's why it works so well. If they gave me a contract with the possibility of finishing it at Mengão, I'd sign it now. I'm living a dream, representing more than 40 million."

Marquinhos now joins Olivinha and shooting guard Pedro Nunes (under contract since 2019) on the roster. Gustavo De Conti, who recently signed a new contract, will remain in charge, as will the entire coaching staff.
