The first title of international reinforcements

State champions, Laprovittola and Meyinsse are already thinking about the New Basketball Brazil

On August 12th, at a press conference at the Gávea headquarters, Flamengo introduced two international additions to the basketball team: Argentine Laprovittola and American Meyinsse. It's unclear whether they rehearsed their speeches, but both arrived on that day stating that their goal was to win titles. Less than three months after the press conference, the first trophy arrived. Both were instrumental in the team's ninth state championship campaign.

"I'm happy. We accomplished the first mission of the year, but we know there's still a lot to be done until the end of the season. It was good to start by winning a championship and now the goal is the national league (Novo Basquete Brasil)," said Meyinsse, who shares the same joy as his Argentine teammate.

"I'm very happy with my first title with Flamengo. We worked hard to achieve these victories. We all performed well and put what we needed on the court to come out victorious. Now is the time to enjoy the victory, but it's also time to think about the match against Brasília," said Laprovittola, referring to the NBB debut, which will take place on the 09th at the HSBC Arena.

Born in the province of Buenos Aires, home to some of the most passionate fan bases on the planet, Laprovittola is impressed with the Flamengo Nation. "The fans are really great. The truth is, I always feel very happy in every match I play for Flamengo. I really notice the difference the fans make and the passion they give us. I'm very happy to have a fan base that motivates any player," he said.

With Meyinsse and Laprovittola's excellent start, Flamengo is even stronger to achieve the other two objectives of the season: winning the unprecedented Liga das Américas title and lifting the NBB trophy for the second consecutive time. Teammate Benite, who plays for both teams, has nothing but praise for the duo.

"They're both great players. Laprovittola is a guy who's used to big games and plays for the Argentine national team. This shows his quality. He's been playing very well, he's been helping out, and he can still deliver a lot. When we all get back on track, he'll be even more useful in the quest for titles," said the shooting guard, who also made a point of praising his American teammate.

"Meyinsse is used to playing for winning teams. That's great, and he's a great addition to our team. So far, he's shown that he knows his role very well. He's a very good player and will start to improve as the team gets to know each other," he said.
