Accustomed to decisive matches, FlaBasquete has another challenge ahead of it, the NBB CAIXA playoffs. The team led by José Neto earned the right to go directly to the quarterfinals - skipping the round of 16 - and awaited its opponent in the match between Franca and Rio Claro. The latter won the series and the first match against Rubro-Negro will be next Monday (18), at 7 pm, at the Felipe Karam gym. The match will be broadcast live on the SporTV channel. "We're very focused on our preparation and we're going to fight for our fourth consecutive title. I really believe in this training period we're having. The physical preparation is intense, and the time we had to rest between the qualifiers and the knockout stage will help us a lot. Besides, our team is a "family." Everyone is always working towards one goal: to put Flamengo in the top positions," said the athlete.
Flamengo's strong performance in the national competition also symbolizes a comeback after a painful defeat in the Liga das Américas. Olivinha assures that the page has been turned and the focus is fully on the NBB CAIXA.
"I'm very positive about this first part of the season. We won the Carioca Championship, we had a slow start in the NBB, but then our team found its feet and we finished first in the qualifying round. This gave us the right to play in a possible final at home, which was one of our main goals. Unfortunately, in the Liga das Américas, that tragedy happened. It was very painful to lose to Bauru like that, but that bad moment is over," he said.
