On Thursday night (17.07), with 16 points, five rebounds and two assists from power forward Olivinha, Brazil easily won the friendly match against Ecuador by 92 to 43, at the Napoleón Rodríguez Gymnasium, in Barquisimeto. This was the second test for the National Team in preparation for the South American Championship, from July 24 to 28.
"It was an important match for us to continue improving our game rhythm and putting into practice what we've been using in training. Of course, we still have a lot to improve, but we managed to maintain a high level of intensity," said Brazil and Flamengo coach José Neto.
Gegê and Vitor Benite were also included in the starting lineup and performed well. The point guard had seven points, six assists, and one rebound; Benite had 11 points and two assists. Cristiano Felíicio came off the bench to score six points and four rebounds.
Brazil returns to the court next Sunday (20.07) to face Uruguay in the Super Four Tournament, in Puerto La Cruz. In the other match, Venezuela and Ecuador play. The winners will decide the title on Monday (21), while the losers will play for third place.
