Olivinha debuts at the Pan American Games
Experienced power forward participates in the competition for the first time in Toronto

With Flamengo, he won five Rio titles, three Brazilian titles, one continental title, and one world title. With the national team, he won a Copa América and a bronze medal at the South American Championship. With a resume packed with titles, Olivinha has a new experience in 2015: he will compete in the Pan American Games for the first time.
As one of the most experienced athletes on the team competing in the tournament, the FlaBasquete power forward spoke about the feeling of making his debut in a competition. "I'm truly one of the most experienced players on the team, and I'm competing in my first Pan American Games. I'm proud to be here on the team representing our country in such an important competition. I'm very motivated because this is my first championship, and I hope to do well in Toronto and perhaps bring a medal home to Brazil, which is one of our team's goals," he said.
Olivinha is already training with the Brazilian national team and also gave his opinion on the preparation. "It's very good. The training is going very well, everyone is working hard to get us to Toronto ready to put on a good tournament," he said. He also saw a connection between the work done at the club and with the national team. "The training is very similar to what we do at Flamengo. Neto and Diego Falcão, who are part of the coaching staff, have the same training style as (Rubén) Magnano, and that makes things a little easier because we're already used to it at the club. When you arrive at the national team, it's just a matter of putting into practice what we do in our daily lives at Flamengo," he analyzed.
