Olivinha: "Happy to be part of this family"
The red-black power forward praises the unity of the group and the support of the red-black fans
By Communication - Official Club Website - inOlivinha, the record holder for rebounds in the New Basketball Brazil (NBB) across all seven editions of the championship, achieved another milestone in the tournament this Saturday (May 30.05). Alongside the red-and-black squad, the power forward won Flamengo its first-ever NBB championship. He asserts that the criticism during the regular season fueled the team's push to reach the final.
"I'm very happy. I appreciate the support of the Red-Black Nation, who also came here today (Saturday) and helped us a lot. It's a feeling of accomplishment, because this season wasn't like the previous ones. We finished third in the standings. Many doubted our team. When we lost the Liga das Américas, I heard many saying that our team wasn't the same anymore, that we needed a makeover. This only gave us the strength to work even harder," he said.
With 17 points in the match that decided the trophy, just two behind the red-and-black scorer Laprovittola, Olivinha praised the group's unity and praised the team's growth in the knockout stage.
"We grew a lot in the playoffs, our confidence was immense, and thank God we crowned the moment with Flamengo's first consecutive NBB title (four titles in total). I'm very happy to be part of this story and this family. Now it's time to celebrate. Flamengo Nation, this is Mengão!" he celebrated.
