Having qualified for the quarterfinals, Flamengo takes to the court against Rio Claro, on Wednesday night (01.04), at 20 pm, at the Tijuca Tênis Clube gymnasium. The match, valid for the 29th round of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), pits two teams with very different objectives in the championship against each other.
The Red-Black comes from a victory over São José (93 to 88), also at Tijuca Tênis Clube. Guaranteed a spot in the playoffs and ranked among the top four, Flamengo is looking for another victory in a ten-game unbeaten streak. The team sits third in the standings with a 75% record.
"We played well offensively today (Saturday). In the second half the defense was weaker, but we still won and we're in a good rhythm to start the playoffs. We want to keep this rhythm in these last two games," said the red-black center Jerome Meyinsse.
In second-to-last place, their opponent has only a 25% success rate. In their last NBB match, Rio Claro achieved an important result in their fight against relegation. Playing at home on March 20th, the Rio Claro team defeated Minas Gerais 73-68. The match promises to be tough against an opponent trying to avoid relegation while also dreaming of the playoffs.
