Flamengo traveled to São Paulo to debut in the Novo Basquete Brasil 7, a repeat of the NBB 6 final against Paulistano. In a great match, they emerged victorious once again, demonstrating their intention to defend the title they won last year.

Aware of the challenges they would face, the Orgulho da Nação players, led by José Neto, had a tough first quarter. The home team came out on top, looking to open up a big lead early in the match. For Flamengo, Argentine Walter Herrmann, playing his first match in the national championship, put in a strong performance. Flamengo's number one was responsible for 11 of Flamengo's 18 points in the quarter, but it wasn't enough to prevent Paulistano from winning the first quarter, which ended at 29-18.

In the second quarter, José Neto's instructions paid off. With the team more focused, Flamengo demonstrated its full potential. With a slew of three-pointers, the game changed. With Gegê's excellent play in setting up the team, Flamengo closed the quarter 25-19, but still trailed.

The second half saw the Flamengo team even more motivated to turn the score around. This time, Jerome Meyinsse, one of the standout players in the NBB 6 playoffs, repeated his feat. Supported by a persistent Marquinhos, Flamengo took the lead, opening up a 10-point lead and closing the third quarter at 35-25.

From then on, the Pride of the Nation simply had to manage the result. Despite the home team posing as a formidable opponent, Flamengo displayed all its experience and quality as a three-time national champion and world champion on the court. Once again proving its strong squad, the "Mais Querido" closed the game 99-91, making a strong debut in NBB 7.
