The boys and girls from the six Flamengo social responsibility centers, run in partnership with the State Department of Sports, Recreation, and Youth, will receive distinguished visitors during the upcoming week (May 29.05-June 02.06). The young people who attend basketball classes at the Sempre Flamengo Sports School in Sampaio, Cachoeiras de Macacú, Mangaratiba, Petrópolis, Três Rios, and the DEGASE Center will experience the thrill of seeing up close great examples of success on and off the court: stars Marcelinho, Marquinhos, Olivinha, JP Batista, Rafael Mineiro, Humberto, and Fischer, as well as coach José Neto and his assistant Rodrigo Carlos. 

Marcelo Vido, executive director of Olympic Sports for Rubro-Negro, praised the partnership with the Rio de Janeiro State Government. 

"Flamengo began a partnership with the State Department of Sports, Recreation, and Youth in 2014 with the adult basketball team, and since then, we've won several titles and achievements. Everything has always been very close to the Department. At the end of 2015, we started another project with the Department. A social, socio-educational project, the Sempre Flamengo Sports School Basketball Centers. Today, we have six centers in the state: Sampaio, Cachoeiras de Macacú, Mangaratiba, Petrópolis, Três Rios, and the DEGASE Center," said Vido. 

The basketball teams at the Sempre Flamengo Sports School seek to bring out the best in underprivileged children and teenagers, as well as young people in conflict with the law, and aim to develop citizens more than just athletes.
