FlaBasquete returns to the Tijuca Tênis Clube court at 20pm this Friday (03.04) to play the final round of the first phase of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) against Limeira. Occupying 3rd place, Rubro-Negro is already guaranteed a place in the league's quarterfinals.
After three straight wins at Tijuca Tênis Clube, Orgulho da Nação (Nation's Pride) heads into the game to defend its 11-match unbeaten streak. In its last match, it defeated Rio Claro 99-74, with a stellar performance from Jerome Meyinsse.
The American center emphasized the importance of the match, which doesn't count for position but concludes the first round against a likely playoff opponent. "In the last match, we played well, passed the ball well, and scored 99 points. The match against Limeira may not count for positioning in the qualifying round, but it's very important for us to make a good start to the knockout stage. They (Limeira) are ahead of us, and we have a good chance of facing them in the playoffs. It will be a tough game," he stated.
With an 86,2% success rate, Limeira sits second in the standings and can no longer be overtaken by Flamengo. In their last match, they beat Macaé away from home by just two points, thanks to a stellar performance from point guard Deryk Ramos.
