Last week, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo provided two of its representatives to the Brazilian Under-21 basketball team for the South American tournament - Pedro Nunes (point guard) and Fernando Pereira (assistant coach). The players were part of the team that beat Argentina this Saturday (17) by 80 to 59 and lifted the championship trophy undefeated in Tunja, Colombia.

"This achievement by the entire team, by the entire group, was unforgettable. The coaching staff was wonderful, with Léo (Figueiró) leading the way and giving us all the support... Vita (Haddad), the physical trainer and head of the delegation, also providing full support... Silvanio (Junior), the physiotherapist, working around the clock... The boys bought into our idea and did everything we were asked to do. They worked as a group the entire time, both on offense and defense, and we studied our opponents, recording a lot of video because we didn't have much time to train, so we had to develop a game plan, culminating in this victory over Argentina in the final. What we experienced here was truly challenging, and it was an achievement we will cherish forever," celebrates Fernandinho.

A new signing for the red-and-black team for the adult and youth teams, point guard Pedro Nunes had an impeccable performance, finishing the match with 11 points, 3 rebounds and 1 ball recovered, in addition to responding very well to the committee's request for collective play.

"Pedro Nunes did very well. He played with great confidence, relaxed, and with great pleasure. It had been a while since he'd been called up to the Brazilian national team, and he gave it his all here. It was wonderful," Fernando exclaims.
