Pedro Nunes, the first confirmed member of the squad to pursue the Retomada das Américas, followed FlaBasquete's preparation for the upcoming season. The point guard, who already had a contract signed through 2021, discussed the renewals, analyzed his first year with Orgulho da Nação, and commented on the club's signings.

I joined Flamengo with high expectations. I knew it would be difficult to play in such a star-studded squad, featuring only top players from Brazil and internationally, from the Americas. I knew it would be difficult, but I truly chose Flamengo because I could interact with the best on a daily basis. I was able to make the most of this year. I came in wanting to learn, especially from my teammates, from Gustavo, and to receive the same treatment as the best. I think those expectations were met because it was a year of immense learning, and I'll definitely take everything into the next one.

From the very first day, I became very close to Leo Demetrio; he's my kicking partner before, during, and after training, all the time. We ended up developing a very good friendship, and throughout the year I became very close to Jhonatan and Marquinhos as well. Especially Marquinhos, who from the moment I started spending time with him on a daily basis became an idol to me. He's a guy I always ask for advice from, he's always helping me, and he's always texting me, wanting to know how I'm doing and motivating me. I also have a very good friendship with Jhonatan; I have a lot of contact with him, so those three are the ones I'm closest to, but overall, I have a very good relationship with the entire team. The atmosphere in the locker room among the players is very good.

From day one, I talked a lot with Gustavo. He put me at ease. He knew things had to be done on my own time. This helped me a lot in developing, especially in training. Even though he reassured me like this, he always pushed me hard in training, so I think I was able to develop my basketball skills tremendously during this time, and as soon as I had the opportunity to play at the youth level, I tried to put into practice everything I was learning from the senior team. It was a very easy process.

I've evolved a lot since I arrived last year, leaving high school in the United States. I've changed from one thing to another. I'm more consistent with my shots, I've developed a better physique thanks to excellent work with Bruno Nicolaci and Ricardo Machado, and I've been able to improve significantly. With Gustavo and all the players, I've learned a lot of tactics, a lot of game reading, and how to play a professional game, which is completely different from a youth game with kids my age. This first year has been a great learning experience; I've been able to gather a lot of information from all of them, and now all that's left is to put it into practice.

This is definitely one of the titles I'll cherish forever; it was my first with the national team. I ended up not being able to attend for reasons outside of other call-ups, but as soon as I could, I returned after five years to the Brazilian national team. Winning this title, especially against our rival, Argentina, is a completely different feeling. I have a very close friendship with everyone on the team. Of course, I hope for more call-ups. Being able to represent your country is certainly an honor for every athlete, and if I get the opportunity, I'll certainly grab it with all my might. 

I was very happy to learn that a large part of last year's squad would be retained; they're people I've developed a strong bond with on and off the court. I was also very happy that the coaching staff renewed, as well as Gustavo; they're always willing to help me, always available to me. Knowing that a large part of the FlaBasquete project remained gave me great relief. In terms of continuity, I think it helps a lot because we developed a tremendous connection, especially at the end of the season; the team was very cohesive and functioning well. I think being able to continue this and add new players who will certainly fit well with our style of play will make us a team that will compete for any title we seek.

Yago is a very unique point guard. For his height, his production on the court is impressive. He has a great shot, is very aggressive, constantly drives to the basket, has a very good pass, and is also a good dribbler. He'll be a key asset for us this coming season, especially because of his aggressiveness. Chuzito, on the other hand, is an excellent natural shooter; his catch-and-shoot three-pointers are impressive. He's a constant threat to the opposing defense every time he's on offense, so he'll definitely be a key asset for us as well.
