For the 300th time, Marcelinho will defend the Sacred Mantle in the NBB
Captain breaks another important milestone and hits an important number in the competition
By Mariana Sa - inWhen we talk about Marcelinho Machado, few words are needed to describe the importance of this name. The number 4 jersey carries weight, and rightly so. In eleven years with the Flamengo team, the captain has amassed titles, stories, idolatry, and a plethora of decisive moments. Completing 300 matches with the Sacred Mantle in Novo Basquete Brasil, the Flamengo icon is taking advantage of his final season to conclude one of the most beautiful chapters in Brazilian sport.
During his time at the Gávea club, Marcelinho won every possible title and made a point of making his mark on several occasions in the NBB. Lifting the trophy five times, the captain was a key player in almost every triumph.
Among his incredible achievements is, for example, the highest score in a single match of the competition. In 2010, in the second edition of the tournament, the star broke the all-time points record for the national basketball championships. He scored 63, including 16 from the three-point line, and delivered a stunning victory against São José.

When he was sidelined by a serious injury in 2012/13, the only major injury of his career, he always followed closely and rooted for his teammates' success. A natural leader, with a strong personality and, above all, unparalleled talent.

In 2008/9, 2013/14, 2014/15, and 2015/16, that key player was always there when Flamengo needed him. Huge finals, classics against tough opponents, and decisive when needed. That was Marcelinho in each of his 300 games for Novo Basquete Brasil.
In his 300th NBB game, Marcelinho will experience another unforgettable night. This, his 499th match for Flamengo, will mark what could be his last confrontation with his brother Duda Machado, a former Flamengo player currently playing for Bauru. Experiencing his final moments with intensity and dedication, it remains to be seen what the number 4's next move will be for the Mais Querido.
