On Thursday night (26), FIBA confirmed Flamengo among the Brazilian teams that will compete in the Champions League Americas - a continental competition that gives access to the Intercontinental Cup, the basketball World Cup. Champion in 2014, when the tournament was still called the League of the Americas, and in 2021, in Nicaragua, FlaBasquete enters group C of the tournament, with Boca Juniors, from Argentina, and Hebraica Macabi, from Uruguay, in search of the three-peat.

This will be the fifth season of the BCLA, which begins on December 13th and features 12 clubs divided into four groups of three. After playing each other home and away, the top eight advance to the quarterfinals, where they compete for spots in the final stage of the competition, which will be played in April 2024.

Guilherme Kroll, the club's vice president of Olympic Sports, thanked Guy Peixoto, president of the CBB, and sent a message to the Rubro-Negra Nation.

"Eternal gratitude to the president of the Brazilian Basketball Confederation who traveled to Switzerland to defend the interests of Brazilian clubs that were at risk of not competing in the international season. Flamengo raised the bar for Brazilian basketball. Our investment isn't a one-off. The Landim administration guarantees Flamengo a favorite in any competition it competes in. This season, the board assembled a roster packed with international stars. Winning the Champions League Americas is a priority objective. The nation wants the world again," he concluded.
