Rubro-negros begin their journey against Basquete Cearense away from home

The conquest of the Campeonato Carioca is already behind us. This Saturday (13), Flamengo begins another great challenge in the season: the fight for the title of the Novo Basquete Brasil 11. Facing Basquete Cearense at the Centro de Formação Olímpica gymnasium in Fortaleza, at 18 pm, the red-blacks seek their first victory in the national competition.
FlaBasquete is a five-time NBB champion, having won the titles in the 2008-09, 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, and 2015-16 seasons.

Former player and one of the main names in Basquete Cearense last season, Davi Rossetto planned to return to Ceará right at the start of the NBB.
"It will definitely be strange. I've never played against them, having been a part of the team since its founding. This will be the first time I'll be on the other side. From what I know of those who remain, it will be a team with a strong defensive style, a gritty squad, playing a physical game to push us out of our comfort zone. So we can expect a very tough matchup. While it will be different, I'm on the other side now and I'm a competitive guy. I don't like losing, not even in training, let alone to my former club. I have complete confidence in my teammates and believe we can win there," analyzed the point guard.
Always counting on the support of the Nation, Rossetto also spoke about the atmosphere for the match at the Fortaleza Olympic Training Center. "It was a characteristic of the games against Flamengo to have a lot of Flamengo fans. Basketball has become very popular in the state, so I believe there will also be a lot of fans in the gymnasium, as it's a debut. I hope to be well received. I don't know how it will be, but our relationship has always been very good and very affectionate. Now, I don't know what it will be like on the other side. I hope it will be a great reunion," said the player.
"The team is ready. We proved that the preparation phase is over by winning the title, and we had the opportunity against the Orlando Magic. We have to be aware that we're ready. Of course, we'll improve some things throughout the season, but we're already in a position to truly play in the NBB at the level the competition demands," Davi added.

The Ceará team retained much of the squad that had a remarkable run in the last NBB. With the departure of Davi, Betinho, and coach Alberto Bial, Ceará has strengthened its roster with quality players and will aim for a victory in its debut in front of its home crowd.
In retrospect, there were 12 games, ten victories for Flamengo and two for Basquete Cearense.

From the team that was at Mais Querido last year, winger Marquinhos, power forwards Olivinha and Anderson Varejão and center João Vitor continue to defend the Manto Sagrado.

Point guards Franco Balbi and Davi Rossetto, shooting guards Deryk Ramos and Kevin Crescenzi, forward Jhonatan Luz, power forward David Nesbitt, center Rafael Mineiro and coach Gustavo De Conti are the new faces.
Base
Four athletes from the club's youth academy are assisting the senior squad in 2018-19. Point guards Matheusinho and João Matheus, forward Aieser, and power forward Ruan train daily with the senior squad and are available to coach Gustavinho.
