FlaBasquete entered the court on Tuesday night (3) and beat Pinheiros 93 to 82 at Maracanãzinho, in a match valid for the 24th round of NBB 12. The red-black highlights in the game were Eloy Vargas with 21 points and Franco Balbi with 17 assists, obtaining the new record of the current edition of the championship.
The game
Mengão started the match ahead with a three-pointer from Olivinha, who converted another shortly after. Eloy Vargas was also inspired, scoring nine points in a tight first quarter. "Mais Querido" finished with the advantage, closing the period at 23-18.
At the start of the second quarter, Pinheiros came back stronger and closed the deficit to two points. The match continued to be a close affair, with neither team able to gain an advantage. In the final minutes, with a three-pointer from Balbi and a dunk from Eloy Vargas, the Pride of the Nation surged forward and managed to secure a significant lead. Mengão closed the second quarter ahead 48-40, with Vargas the standout for the red-and-blacks, scoring eleven points.
Early in the third quarter, Marquinhos hit a three-pointer that further widened the red-and-black lead. The Pride of the Nation returned with a better defense, making it difficult for Pinheiros to set up plays. On offense, the red-and-black team worked the ball well until they found someone unmarked to successfully finish plays. Eloy Vargas continued to be the standout performer of the match, playing a key role in the team's lead, which closed the period at 72-58.
In the final quarter, FlaBasquete came back with the same momentum, leaving Pinheiros no room to build offensive plays. Franco Balbi also stood out in the match with 17 assists, serving as the team's maestro. In the final five minutes, Deryk and Olivinha hit two three-pointers, sealing the victory. Mengão by 93 the 82.
