Almost two weeks after winning the NBB title, José Neto is starting to realize
The coach is in São Paulo, assisting Rubem Magnano, during the training sessions for the Brazilian Youth National Team. Rubro-Negro Gegê is also part of the group.
By Communication - Official Club Website - inBeing a champion is great. But for Flamengo, it's practically immeasurable. That's what players and coaches often say when they win a trophy wearing the Sacred Mantle. On June 1st, coach José Neto had this honor. He was the captain of the team that brought the trophy of the fifth edition of the New Basketball Brazil to Gávea.
"Little by little, it's sinking in." A movie always plays in my head of everything we've built and the entire journey to the title. I always remember one thing or another that made the team stronger. I hope this fuels our desire to be even better next season and motivates us to continue growing as a team. I believe that's the only way we can continue to be successful," said the red-and-black coach.
Since last Sunday (June 9.06), José Neto has been in São Paulo participating in the training of the Brazilian Young Players' National Team. He is one of coach Rubem Magnano's assistants. Also from Flamengo, Gegê and Benite were called up. The team will train in São Paulo until June 30, when they will depart for Europe for the International Tournament in France, which will be held from July 02 to 04.
"A call-up to join a national team is a practical way of recognizing your work. I'm happy to have worked with them (Gegê and Benite) during this season at Flamengo and to have contributed to this. They deserved it and are representatives of our entire team and the work we did," said José Neto.
Despite being called up, Benite is not with the Brazilian New Players' National Team. He suffered a right thigh injury in the final game of the NBB semifinal against São José. Therefore, the Brazilian coaching staff, based on a report from Flamengo's medical department, opted not to include the player so he could focus on his recovery.
