The Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CBB) released, on the morning of this Tuesday (7), the list of players called up to join the Brazilian National Team for the AmeriCup 2021 qualifiers. The red-blacks Jhonatan Luz and Rafael Mineiro are part of the list of coach Aleksandar Petrovic, which also includes FlaBasquete's physical trainer, Bruno Nicolaci.

"It's always a great joy to represent our country, especially alongside my longtime partner, Jhonatan. I'm very happy with the call-up and I'm sure we'll be ready to step onto the court and give our best for Brazil," says Mineiro.

"Returning to the national team is something to celebrate, especially alongside Rafa, my teammate. We will always try to represent our country in the best way possible and fight for these first two victories in the AmeriCup qualifiers," adds Jhonatan.

According to official information from the CBB, "Brazil will be training on February 16th in São José dos Pinhais (PR). The time for the match on the 21st against Uruguay has not yet been confirmed. Information about tickets will be released in the second half of January. The team will travel to Uruguay on February 22nd and face their rivals on the 24th in Montevideo."

Understand the dispute format:

The Copa América qualifiers divide 12 teams into four groups of four countries each. The top three advance to the tournament. Brazil is in Group B with Paraguay, Uruguay, and Panama. In addition to the February matches, the team will play again at home in November and in February 2021. The Copa América qualifies for the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.
