Rafael Ferreira de Souza, nicknamed Mineiro, has renewed his contract with FlaBasquete for another season. A champion of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) with the Pride of the Nation, the 28-year-old, 2,09m tall power forward also boasts a gold medal from the Toronto Pan American Games with the Brazilian National Team and a Liga das Américas title with Pinheiros.

In Brazil, the athlete previously played for Paulistano, São José, Pinheiros, and Limeira before arriving at Gávea. At Flamengo, he played 41 games in the 2015/2016 NBB season, averaging 21,1 minutes per game. During that time, he scored 314 points and grabbed 156 rebounds wearing the sacred jersey.

"Very happy to sign for another year with Flamengo and the Rubro-Negra Nation. I hope to continue representing the club's jersey well. I hope we can have the same performance in the NBB, more success in the Liga das Américas, and take the team to another world championship," said the athlete.

The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo adult basketball team relies on direct funding from its sponsor Estácio, in addition to investments from Tim via the State Sports Incentive Law/State Secretariat for Sports, Leisure and Youth (ICMS).
