Rafael Rachel, a Gávea native with the most playing time last season, signed a contract extension with Flamengo and will once again be part of the Rubro-Negro's senior squad. The player, who will face the LDB as one of the team's veterans, was present for all of the team's victories during this historic year.
Considered a promising Brazilian basketball player from a young age, the youngster joined Mengão in February 2019. Performing well in youth competitions, he soon began training with the professional team and subsequently became part of the rotation. His best performance to date came against Cerrado. The power forward finished the game with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
"First, I want to thank God and Flamengo for the opportunity to renew my contract. My debut with the senior team was an excellent experience, where I learned a lot from my teammates, who became like family to me. I felt like I had older brothers. Now I look forward to a season with more opportunities and I'm preparing myself. I will give my best every day to help the team and honor the Sacred Mantle," he emphasized.
