The shooting guard arrived at Flamengo in 2016, just in time to win the season title. Last year, he suffered a setback. But he already understands what it's like to play for the "Most Beloved" team, the fans' passion, and knows the shortcuts to the playoffs.
Boasting excellent performances in the competition, the number 14 averages 8.6 points per game, scoring 29 against Vitória, a potential opponent in the next round. But for Ramon, the championship he finished top of is over. What matters is what lies ahead.
"It's a really different championship. Now another phase begins, another competition. Everything we've done is worthless now if we lose. We start from scratch and each phase we face is a new championship," said the player.
Vitória or Minas? It doesn't matter. For the player, both teams are perfectly capable of reaching this stage and seeking a spot. Flamengo doesn't have to choose its opponent; it just has to face and overcome them. Especially when dealing with such similar teams.
"These are two teams that play almost the same way, focusing on their plays. They're very intelligent teams. It's good to play against teams like that. However, we're focused on what we can do. We still need to make some adjustments, but our focus is on what we can do," the point guard added.
Flamengo awaits the definition of its opponent in the quarterfinals. This Thursday, Vitória and Minas face each other in Salvador, in the fifth match of the series. The first game, still at a location to be defined, will be next Sunday (15). Matches 2 and 3 will be in Rio de Janeiro, at Arena Carioca 1, next Tuesday and Thursday.
