Flamengo's newest basketball signing, American Kyle Lamonte, hasn't been introduced yet, but he already knows what it's like to wear the sacred jersey. At his home in Davenport, Iowa, the winger received the jersey he will wear for Flamengo and made a point of taking photos in the new club's uniform and sending it back to Brazil.
"I felt really good. It was great. I never imagined that one day I would be able to play in Brazilian basketball. I'm really looking forward to getting to Brazil and wearing the Flamengo jersey," said the new Flamengo player, who arrives with the accreditation of Most Valuable Player in last season's Liga de las Américas finals, when he played for Peñarol, from Argentina.
Black Cobra Lamonte, as he's known, is scheduled to arrive in Brazil at the end of this week. He'll be introduced to the group early next week, as he looks ahead to the challenges facing the red-and-black basketball team this season.
