Before the loss to Mogi, in the first game of the best-of-five semifinal series of the NBB CAIXA, last Saturday (30), FlaBasquete had not lost in nine playoff games - since the fourth game of the quarterfinal series of the last edition of the championship, against São José. The victories were over São José (98x64), in the fifth game of the 2014/15 quarterfinal series, Limeira (85x78, 92x73 and 76x67), in the three games of the 2014/15 semifinal series, Bauru (91x69 and 77x67), in the two games of the 2014/15 final, and Rio Claro (88x79, 93x73 and 93x82), in the three games of the 2015/16 quarterfinal series.
"In the NBA playoffs this week, the San Antonio Spurs were trying to win their eighth consecutive playoff victory and lost, to give you an idea of what a significant number this is," said José Neto, highlighting the significance of the red-and-black team's achievement.

To reach another NBB CAIXA final and defend its current three-time consecutive championship, the Pride of the Nation is banking on the team's ability to comeback, as has been the case in previous seasons. On four occasions, FlaBasquete has recovered in playoff series after falling behind—and in two of them, it went on to lift the trophy.
Relive Mengão's comebacks in the playoffs:
Season 2009 / 2010
Flamengo fell behind in the semifinals against Franca (82-90), but bounced back by winning the next three games of the best-of-five series (101-73, 80-73, and 85-86), closing out the stage at their opponent's home stadium with a victory that was truly Flamengo: full of emotion and decided in the last second. A heroic three-point shot from almost half court in a packed gymnasium by the opposing fans by Marcelinho secured a spot in the final. The captain's basket turned the match around to 86-85, silenced the Pedrocão gymnasium, and sealed the semifinals 3-1. Unfortunately, in the final, the defending champions lost to Brasília in the best-of-five series, but they didn't let it go unpunished and pushed the decision to a fifth game, with close scores (88-84, 90-93, 84-85, 94-74, and 74-76).
Season 2010 / 2011
In that edition of the NBB, Flamengo turned the series against Bauru, in the quarterfinals, from 0-1 to 3-1 (85x87, 79x71, 79x73, 82x79). In the semifinal, the team lost to Franca 3-0 and did not reach the final.
Season 2012 / 2013
In the semifinals, Flamengo began the best-of-five series by losing to São José, 80-72, but recovered with two century-old scores at home, at the HSBC Arena: 100-84 and 106-86. The team lost the fourth game, 96-88, but closed the series with a victory in the fifth duel, 88-76. The team went to the final and was crowned two-time national champion, in a single game against Uberlândia (77x70).
Season 2013 / 2014
In the quarterfinals, Flamengo started with a 74-70 loss to Bauru, but then followed with victories: the first at home (86-69) and the other two away (92-73 and 84-81). The team went on to the semifinals against Mogi, winning 3-1, and in the final, they beat Paulistano 78-73, winning the competition for the third time.
