Round of victories for Fla's youth team
Mirim, infantil and sub-14 win their matches at the weekend

Last weekend's round of the State Basketball Championship was good for Flamengo's youth teams. In matches against Fluminense, on Saturday (04.06), at the Hélio Maurício gymnasium, in Gávea, the youth team won 64 x 60 and the children's team 65 x 63. The youth team was not so lucky, and lost 55 x 63. On Sunday (05.06), the under-14 team beat Central, in Niterói, 60 x 55, in a match that ended the first round of the competition.
In the youth game, Fluminense opened up a small lead, but Flamengo fought back and won in the final minutes, maintaining their unbeaten run in the championship. The game's top scorer was Ricardo Pereira, who scored 18 points.
The children's game was fiercely contested from start to finish and decided in the final seconds with a basket from Flamengo center Matheus. Henrique Machado, who scored 20 points, was the standout performer for Flamengo.
In the children's category, the top scorer for the Gávea team was João Vytor, with 20 points, just two points behind the game's top scorer, Lucas Ehlers, from Fluminense.
The under-14 team defeated Central in a tough match. Flamengo managed to open a 15-point lead early on, but let their rival close the gap. Still, they managed to hold on to the advantage and win the match. Central's Spencer Morton was the game's top scorer with 23 points. The red-and-black standout was Felipe Novelino, who scored 21 points.
Next Saturday (11.06), the youth, children and infants will take to the court against Tijuca Tênis Clube, at the opponent's home, at 14 pm, 15:30 pm and 17 pm, respectively. The under-14s will debut in the next phase of the championship on 01.07, against Vasco, in São Januário.
