Rodrigo Carlos, a world champion as José Neto's assistant coach at Flabasquete, participated in an exchange program with the NBA between July 08th and 14th during the Summer League, the world's best basketball competition. The project, part of NBA Brazil's promotional activities in partnership with the National Basketball League, was extended to all NBB member clubs, but not all were able to participate. The idea was to bring basketball closer together in both countries, which will help the sport's growth in Brazil. 

The representatives had closer contact with NBA coaches, managers, and professionals to gather information about the League's work. They were also able to watch games and observe potential players to strengthen their teams for the upcoming season of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) and Liga Ouro. 

"I would like to thank the NBA (Daniel Soares), the LNB (Paulo Bassul) and Flamengo (Marcelo Vido) for allowing me to participate in a major global event, allowing me to talk to many people from different fields, learning about their work, strategies and plans. The Summer League brings together professionals from all over the world."

"Besides watching excellent games, we had the opportunity to interact with coaches, agents, scouts, team owners, players, and managers. I was able to watch the Brazilians (Cristiano Felício and Bruno Caboclo) play and see their development in the NBA. During the NBA Summer League, other Summer Tournaments take place in the city. I attended some games from two of these tournaments: the Global Basketball Summer League and the Worldwide Invitational 2016 Summer League. These tournaments are attended by players seeking, and those already in, a place in the market outside the United States. It's their chance to continue playing professional basketball."

"I participated in several meetings with NBA professionals, getting to know and learn more about this world so far removed from our reality. These professionals were very open to sharing information and knowledge from their respective fields. They were competent people who showed great passion for their work. The trip to Las Vegas provided a wealth of knowledge. I feel happy and honored to have participated in this wonderful event for our sport. I hope to have more opportunities like this."

In June of this year, Steve Kerr's assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors came to Brazil to give lectures to Brazilian coaches during the post-NBB Technical Congress. Later, Jordi Fernandez, formerly of the Cleveland Cavaliers and now of the Denver Nuggets, also visited the country.
