As part of the Dominican Republic's 2019 World Cup qualifying squad, red-and-black point guard Ronald Ramon led the country to victory in the match against the Virgin Islands this Friday (24). The match, which ended 99-89, took place at the Arena del Cibao in Santiago de los Caballeros. Ramon comments on the victory.
"About yesterday, our team played very well, especially defensively. We wanted to go out on the court as a team defensively speaking, and forget about the offensive part for a bit. We knew that, to do that, we had to stop their point guard, who was the engine of the team, and I think we managed to do that in the best way. We managed to accomplish that and it paid off. We won the match," declared the number 14.
The Dominicans' next challenge takes place next Monday (27) against Canada.
"Against Canada, we know they're a more experienced team, and we'll have to be more focused, defensively and on our game. We have a small team that can run a lot, so we'll focus on that to beat Canada. Play smart and score," concludes the player, who returns to Brazil on the 28th to rejoin training with FlaBasquete ahead of the NBB match against Caxias do Sul on the 30th.
