FlaBasquete's new signing, Dominican Republic point guard Ronald Ramon, arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday morning (07.01) straight to Flamengo's headquarters in Gávea. The player officially presented himself to the Mais Querido's Olympic Sports Department and received the red-and-black number ten jersey from the hands of Executive Director Marcelo Vido.
After settling in with his family in his new apartment, the athlete's planning for Flamengo begins with medical exams and training sessions this afternoon, along with the team led by José Neto. The athlete will not play in the match against Macaé, this Friday (January 08.01th), at the Hélio Maurício gymnasium. His debut is scheduled for the match against Bauru, at the Tijuca Tênis Clube gymnasium, on January 13th. Regarding the pressure of playing for the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved), the basketball number 10 seemed to know what awaits him.
"Playing for a team that's always chasing titles and always wants to be fighting for the top spot in the table, we know we'll face pressure from all sides. It's natural. I've played against Flamengo countless times and know what the fans are like. I'm comfortable with this pressure and want to talk to (José) Neto to find out how I can best help the team," says Ramon.
During the match against Macaé, the player will be observing his teammates. For Olivinha, focusing on victory is paramount at this point.
"We already know Macaé very well; they've been the team we've played against the most this season. They've strengthened the team from Rio de Janeiro and are coming off a win. We have to be fully focused to try and get another win in front of our fans," concludes Gávea's number 16.
