Flamengo's Jefferson won the trophy for best power forward at the Military Basketball World Cup and was selected for the championship team. The Flamengo player was one of the standout players for the Brazilian national team in its unprecedented bronze medal win at the tournament, held in Seoul, South Korea. In the third-place match, the team, which also features Flamengo power forward Wagner, defeated favorite China 70-53.
"I'm very happy because Brazil has participated in other editions of the Military World Championship and had never won a medal, so this is an unprecedented achievement and I'm honored to have participated in a very strong, dedicated, united team led by an excellent coach, like Alberto Bial. Now, the next goal is to compete in the Military World Games next year in Rio de Janeiro," celebrated the red-and-black Jefferson.
