Rubro-Negro wins and remains undefeated in the LDB
After a balanced first half, Flamengo plays very well in the final two quarters and wins by 20 points

Flamengo continues its winning streak in the Basketball Development League (LDB). Last night (August 29.08), at the Gávea clubhouse, the team defeated Vitória/ES 85-65, achieving its 16th consecutive victory in the competition. The Mais Querido is the only club to have won every match it has played so far, and as such, it leads the LDB with 46 points. Minas Gerais, with 44, is in second place.
The Red-Blacks took the court with Danielzinho in place of Gegê, who was rested by the coaching staff due to a muscle soreness in his right leg. With Gegê out, Diego took full responsibility. The winger scored 33 points (61,1% of his attempts), the second-highest score in a single game in the current edition of the competition.
Balanced start and overwhelming finish
With a strong zone defense, Vitória/ES made life difficult for the red-and-black attack in the first half. The Espírito Santo team even led 34-33. Since Flamengo was always slightly better, the final score of the second quarter accurately reflected the first half of the match: a 37-34 victory for the "Mais Querido."
The story at the start of the second half was quite different. With Chupeta and Diego in high spirits (the two combined to score Flamengo's 24 points in the third quarter), Flamengo eliminated any chance of a comeback. At one point, Paulo Chupeta's team opened up a 27-point lead. By the end of the fourth quarter, they simply had to manage their advantage.
