On Wednesday night (May 14.05), Flamengo lost to Mogi das Cruzes 69-65 at the Tijuca Tênis Clube gymnasium. The match was valid for the second game of the best-of-five series of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) semifinals. The team was ahead on the scoreboard several times and fought hard for the victory until the end, but could not contain Mogi's momentum in the final minutes of the match. 

 

The game began with the fans excited, in tune with the team's rhythm, which was attacking heavily. With a beautiful three-pointer from Nico, Flamengo confirmed its devastating performance in the opening minutes: 11-2. With two minutes remaining in the period, the game became very close, and Mogi managed to turn the score around to 16-15. With free throws, Meyinsse put Flamengo back in front; at the end of the clock, Nico extended it to 19-16. In the second quarter, Mogi took the lead again, by just one point, but with a three-pointer, Marcelinho gave Flamengo the lead again, which they maintained throughout the second quarter. At halftime, the scoreboard showed 35-30 for Flamengo.

 

The third quarter started hotly, with the teams taking turns leading the scoreboard. With the power of the Nation, who sang loudly in the stands, Flamengo went after the result. Gegê had a great game, and Flamengo grew into the game. Despite the nervous play and mistakes on both sides, Flamengo mounted good counterattacks after Gegê and Washam stole the ball. In the final quarter, the game continued at a high pace. Flamengo held the lead until midway through the period, when Mogi took a 61-59 lead. With 13 seconds remaining, the score was 68-65. Mogi scored on another free throw, and the game ended 69-65.

Rubro-Negro will go to the opponent's home, next Saturday (17.05), at 20:30 pm, to try to break the tie in the series, which is 1 to 1. The game will be broadcast on Sportv.
